FRANCOTYP-POSTALIA BUILDS NEW PRODUCTION SITE AT WITTENBERGE IN BRANDENBURG

Birkenwerder, 2011-02-18

Over the next few months, the Francotyp-Postalia Group – the full service provider for mail communications – is to build a new, state-of-the-art production line for the new Phoenix franking system in the Brandenburg town of Wittenberge.

The company had held many talks over previous months about the need to build a new production line in Birkenwerder. “The realignment of production is a central measure for sustainably safeguarding the future of the entire FP Group, which employs over 1,000 people worldwide,” says Hans Szymanski, Chairman of the Management Board of Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG.

Following the unsuccessful conclusion of negotiations, a choice of several new production locations was available. “We chose Wittenberge as the site for our new production line. This means that our company will continue production activities in Brandenburg and guarantee high quality for the global market,” says Szymanski. The mail communications specialist is looking to employ up to 50 people at the new location in the next few years.

In view of the impending measures, the production line in Birkenwerder is due to close by the end of the first quarter of 2012 at the latest. The necessary measures are intended for production only; the company’s headquarters will remain in Birkenwerder.
