Berlin, 5 September 2018 – The digital transformation continues to be a top priority for many companies. According to a recently published survey by the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems, half of German companies have already digitalised all or the majority of their business processes. The digitalisation allows them to streamline their processes, save time and money and increase their productivity. The cooperation between Bundesdruckerei and Francotyp-Postalia (FP), the expert for secure mailing business and secure digital communication processes, gives FP the opportunity to enhance the product portfolio on its cloud-based platform FP Sign now with the digital signature solution sign-me offered by Bundesdruckerei. Sign-me is a qualified electronic signature (QES), which can be used to sign many documents with the same legal validity as a handwritten signature on a printed document.
The remote signature sign-me is a QES that meets the strict requirements of the eIDAS regulation, which establishes a uniform legal framework for signatures in Europe. Based on a personal certificate, sign-me guarantees the highest level of security for digital signatures.
The integration of the sign-me signature solution now allows customers already using FP Sign to affix their QES to any document with only a few clicks. Additional hardware equipment, such as card readers or signature cards, will now no longer be required for digitally signing documents with full legal effect. To use sign-me, the user only needs to complete a one-time registration process offered on the platform of Bundesdruckerei’s certified D-TRUST security service. A digital identity can, for example, be created using a German identity card with online ID function or the VideoIdent identification procedure. The identity is then issued with a certificate, which is saved on the computer and retrieved each time FP Sign is used to affix a QES. The user then logs into his FP Sign account to complete the convenient SMS-TAN authentication process to validate the electronic signature. “FP Sign is the leading specialist for secure digital communication processes in Germany. We are proud to have joined forces with a partner who can meet our high expectations in terms of quality and security,” explains Jochen Felsner, Head of Marketing at Bundesdruckerei.
The signature solution with legally binding effect gives customers full flexibility to sign documents anywhere and anytime. It can be used on all devices connected to the Internet, such as smartphones or tablets. “We want to expedite digitalisation processes and at the same time safeguard the high security standards that distinguish our products,” explains Stephan Vanberg, General Manager of FP Mentana-Claimsoft GmbH. “The extension of our existing partnership with Bundesdruckerei in the area of QES is a perfect match because it provides companies digitalising their processes with a smart and secure solution that complements the services offered by FP Sign.” The two companies have been successfully cooperating in the area of signature cards and electronic seals since March.
